SOB Rescue Figure 8 Descender Belay Device

The Figure 8 descender is designed to effectively slow down descent speed and prevent accidents caused by rapid descent by utilizing the friction force between itself and the rope for braking. Different winding methods are suitable for different scenarios.

An upgraded feature of the Figure 8 descender includes a bent ear that allows for fixed positioning during high-altitude operations. The rope can be threaded through the middle ring and wound around the bent ear, providing the ability to hang in the air.

This versatile descender is suitable for use with single ropes or double ropes ranging from 8-13mm in diameter. The small hole can also be utilized as a protective plate when lifting and transporting auxiliary ropes. Additionally, the bent ear portion allows for more effective control of descent speed when rescuing two people and can serve as a stopping point for aerial stops.

Constructed of high-strength aluminum-magnesium alloy material using a forging process, the Figure 8 descender has a breaking load of 40KN (8818lb) and features a middle thickening design for increased torsion resistance and durability. The oxidation-resistant finish prolongs the service life of the descender. With dimensions of 6.7inch(17cm)x6.7inch(17cm) and a weight of 284g / 10oz, the large hole diameter measures 2.17inch(5.5cm) and the small hole diameter measures 1.54inch(3.9cm).
