Proper Sizing and Fit

When choosing climbing shoes, the most important factor is finding a pair that fits well. Leather upper shoes tend to stretch over time, while lined and synthetic upper shoes do not stretch much. Remember that comfortable is too large, painful is too tight, and uncomfortable is perfect.

Please note that climbing shoe sizing varies between brands and models. Numerical sizes should only be used as a guideline. As a rule of thumb, the level of shoe discomfort increases as climbing level increases. This is necessary for precise foot molding, increased sensitivity, and control.
